Broken
At Best
I first met the singer songwriter Broken At Best when I was still living in the Pacific Northwest some time ago. As far as I can remember he’d been living out of a hostel somewhere in the eastern block and had come to busk the haphazard streets of Seattle. We met working security for a ring of venues, ultimately bonding over a mutual love of Long Island emo, bourbon and a mutual disdain for the world that comes naturally to the listless. Some time passed, we went our separate ways and through the miracles of Tik Tok Mr Broken managed to develop a loyal fanbase directly through his distinct busker’s approach to performing, his sharp lyricism and his trademark vulnerability. To say that it has been an honor to work with the man is the a true understatement. His album, Merriweather Derelict, is available on every perceivable streaming service you could think of.
